The Prospects of Media Industry Development Were Discussed at the University

Student scientific-technical conference "Digital and information technologies in electronic media industry" took place at the St.Petersburg State University of Film and Television. This is the 12th annual event, where the competition between undergraduate and graduate students is held and the winners receive grants to participate in the International Broadcasting Convention IBC-2014 in Amsterdam.

Is not the first time when the chairman of the international jury become the Expert on Planning at the Broadcasting Sector of the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers IABM, SPUFT Honorary Doctor Mr. Martin Salter (pictured). This year other members of jury were: the Head of Technical Development SPUFT Alexander  Peregudov, the Director of Marketing at DNK Corporation Sergey Shubin, the Chief of Research and Production Complex  "Research Institute of Television" Lev Balanin and the Head of International Relations Office SPUFT  Konstantin Glasman.

The first stage of the competition was absentee selection of the best student works. The subject of half dozen papers accepted for participation in the next stage traditionally covered the problems of engineering and technology of media industry, the creation and distribution of media content, the improvement of broadcasting quality, etc. At the final stage the pretenders for victory gave a talk, and then participated in the general discussion in English. 

- The conference was held at a high level and was met with great interest – said the member of the organizing committee, acting Head of the Department of Television SPUFT Alexander Belozertcev. - The works submitted to participate this year were devoted not only techniques and technologies, but also the creative aspects of animation. Finalists, who spoke on July 4 in the final round, have prepared bright presentations, so some speeches even become little shows. In final the real fight broke out, the activity of which was awarded by the jury. 

After the long-term debate the jury had announced the names of the winners. They are:

Alina Mannanova, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, 4th  year student,  group  013 – won the Grant to participate the largest international technology and broadcasting technologies forum - International  Broadcasting Convention  IBC-2014 (11-16 September 2014, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) from the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers IABM;

Dmitry Shadrin, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, 3rd year student, group  111 - won the Grant to participate the International  Broadcasting Convention  IBC-2014 (from the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers IABM;

 Ilya Mutovkin, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, 3rd year student, group  112 - won the Grant to participate the International  Broadcasting Convention  IBC-2014 from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE;

Daniel Orlov, Faculty of Photography and Design Technologies, 4th  year student, group  037a - won the Grant to participate the International  Broadcasting Convention  IBC-2014 from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE;

Sergey Tel'nov, Faculty of Photography and Design Technologies, 1st year student, group 337 – won a money award from the corporation "DNK";

Dmitry Makotra, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, 1st year student, group 311 – won Samsung tablet computer from "Research Institute of Television";

Anna Nikolaeva, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, 5th year student, group  913 – won multifunctional flash-drive and interface adapter Apple;

Yegor Markov, Faculty of Film and Television Technologies, graduate student – won a special prize (money prize) from the corporation "DNK" for the special relevance of the work.
