The Workshop of French director Jacques Perkont was held at The University of Film and Television

On September 28, within the framework of the  XXVI International Film Festival "Message to Man" master - class French director and media artist Jacques Perkont was held at the  St.Petersburg State University of Film and Television

Jacques Perkont is known by his bold experiments in the field of video art. He is one of the first media artists who worked on the compression coders-encoders. His first movies and internet works appeared in 1995.

 The lecture was held in the format of a travel into the world of director's  works.. Therefore, the story of Jacques Perkont was arranged in chronological order.

The director began his workshop with biographical stories about his student times, he told about how he began studying computer graphics and about his first experiments.

-I believed, that art and film are two different phenomena, but actually they are just two different markets, - the director has told.

 Jacques shared his own the director's methods and how they have changed during his life. All of his works are based on the experiments with distortions, defects, artifacts, video compression and destructive effect on the film.

- I'm just beginning to understand what I do and what I want to do in the future, until then I had only experiments, - said  Jacques Perkont.

- My message within the frameworks of the festival is to tell you that we should be free and not be afraid to make experiments - summed Jacques Perkont.
