Negotiations with Henan University: SPUFT expands cooperation with China

On August 25, a delegation from Henan University paid a visit to the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. The negotiations discussed the possibility of further cooperation between the two universities in creative and educational projects.

Henan University was represented at the talks by Yang Chaoyang, Vice-Rector of this University, Pei Qiang, Head of the Office for Discipline Inspection, Liu Bo, Head of the Alumni Department and the Education Development Fund,  Cai Jun, Head of the Law Institute of Henan University, Feng Shuxia, Head of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics  and Ma Xiaoyong, Head of the Institute of International Education. From the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television, Konstantin Glasman, Head of the International Relations office, professor, Evgenia Grinenko, Leading specialist in international relations and Daria Mikhailova, manager at internation relations office.

Representatives of both universities briefly talked about the history of their educational institutions, about faculties and basic study programs, about international cooperation with other countries. During the conversation, it turned out that St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and Henan University have much in common.

Both universities have more than a century of history and were formed at the dawn of the XX century after significant revolutionary events in their countries: SPbGIKiT - in 1918, after the February and October revolutions of 1917, Henan University - in 1912, a year after the beginning of the Xinhai Revolution in China.

Both Henan University and SPbGIKiT prepare future specialists in a wide range of professions. So, at present, the faculty of Henan University includes 33 faculties (including such as Journalism, the Faculty of Art, Business Administration, Foreign Languages, Political Science and Law).

A significant difference between the two universities is the number of students. Henan University significantly overtakes SPUFT. In a Chinese university, the number of students is already 47,000.

Recently, the university held a meeting with a delegation of a Chinese university with a similar name - with the University of Hainan. Konstantin Glasman spoke about the results of a successful two-year cooperation under the double diploma program with this university at negotiations with Henan University. Vice-rector of Henan University Yang Chaoyang said that their university is also interested in training future specialists in scriptwriters. Such professionals, trained in the oldest Russian film school, will become sought-after and competitive professionals in the Chinese film market.

Yang Chaoyang invited SPUFT representatives to visit China and come back to Henan University to sign a cooperation agreement. At the end of the meeting, both delegations exchanged gifts and took some memorable photos.

The first negotiations took place. This means that the beginning of cooperation between St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and Henan University has been laid. We hope that the cooperation will be fruitful.
