5 October 2020

On October 1, the XXI Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum was organised. The St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television was represented by Galina Tsimmerman, PhD, the Head of the International Relations Office & the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages; Tamara Alekseeva, PhD, an Associate Professor of the Department of Television; and Anna Oskina, a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages & a Leading Specialist of the Department of International Academic Mobility.

An official opening ceremony of the XXI Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum was organised as an online conference via Zoom and ProspectumLive platforms.

Tuomo Puumala, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, read an official welcoming letter from Sauli Niinistö, the President of Finland. The President of Finland reminded that the Forum had been scheduled to be organized in Sibelius Hall (Lahti, Finland), but in the spring it became clear that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the meeting would not be organised in its original form. To keep ongoing annual Forum activities the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation made the decision to have a virtual Forum session.

The Forum is a good platform to reach out to new Finnish partners and to discuss cooperative cultural and educational projects.
