The Hollywood Film Festival and the University signed a Letter of Intentions

2 February 2017

February 1,  St.Petersburg State University of Film and Television and the Hollywood Film Festival signed a Letter of Intentions. Our  students will have the opportunity to show their films in Los Angeles - the world cinema capital.

The Hollywood Film Festival was founded by couple Carlos de Abreu and Janice Pennington in 1997. The main purpose of the festival, according to the founders, was the desire to "bridge the gap" between the Hollywood and beginners who want to make a film. The festival has an international scope and is not limited to screen of American films. Last year, there applications were submitted from 59 countries.

The Letter of Intentions was signed by Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television Alexander Evmenov and the official representative of the Hollywood Film Festival in Russia Daria Herman.

- This year the Hollywood Film Festival celebrates its twentieth anniversary. Its geography is huge. We are planning to arrange a Day of Russian Cinema with showing of films made by the students and graduates of the University, - said Daria Herman. –This  Film Festival not only gives students a chance to show their work in the heart of Hollywood, but also to make them available to producers and investors. I `m happy to be a representative of the Film Festival in Russia, and I know that the films that the University will present, will be one of the highlights.

A member of the Board of Trustees and the Arts Council SPbSUFT, director and producer Alexander  Igudin said:

- The famous Hollywood Film Festival is among the five best-known film festivals in USA. Now, thanks to the collaboration between the Festival and the University there is a possibility of direct contact of students and graduates with the audience of this film festival. Their work will be presented at the Hollywood Film Festival. Three films of our students have already sent in the competition program of the jubilee  festival, which will take place in March. Let us hope that the University will accept  well-known representatives of the American film industry, to conduct workshops and communicate with our students. It opens up new horizons of cooperation for anyone who study to make a movie.
